Claims Procedure
In the event of loss or damage, which may result in a claim hereunder, immediate notice must be given to us in order that Insurers can be advised and if necessary instruct survey.

As soon as you become aware of a potential claim you must immediately make a written claim on the Carriers, Port Authorities or other Bailees for any goods which are damaged or missing. In no circumstances, except under written protest, should clean receipts be given if the goods are in not in a sound condition.

When goods are carried in containers the claimant should ensure that the Container and its seals are examined immediately upon arrival by either a responsible employee or that of their agents. If the container is delivered damaged or with seals broken or missing or with seal numbers other than as stated in the shipping documents, the delivery receipt must be claused accordingly and all defective or irregular seals must be retained for subsequent identification.

It is the duty of the Assured and their agents to take all reasonable measures to avert or minimise a loss and to ensure that all rights against Carriers and other third parties are properly preserved. Failure to do so may prejudice any claim under the policy.

In the case of theft or malicious damage you must give notice to the Police and obtain a Crime Reference Number.

Documentation will be needed in support of any claim and this will include:
1. The original of the Certificate of Insurance if issued or a copy of the Confirmation of Insurance.
2. Commercial invoices and packing lists.
3. Original Bill of Lading and/or other original carriage documents e.g. airway bills, consignment notes.
4. Copies of any claused delivery receipts given on arrival or during the transit.
5. Correspondence holding the carriers or other third parties responsible together with any replies.
6. Claim statement detailing the goods affected and likely salvage available.
7. Copies of relevant repair invoices if applicable.
8. Any other relevant document or correspondence in respect of the shipment in question.

Please note that Insurers reserve the right to request further information and documentation.
